Product
We mill only the finest mesquite grown in South Texas from some of the
largest logs ever cut. Through proprietary logging relationships, we salvage
rare mesquite from land that is in the process of being cleared for farming,
ranching or alternate uses. We strive to be an environmentally-friendly
organization and therefore adhere to stringent guidelines concerning our log
acquisitions.
SAFARI Hardwoods specializes in extra wide and long mesquite flooring planks
with widths up to 8" and lengths up to 8'. We are a fully-integrated
company, handling the whole process of all production phases internally,
from rough cutting our mesquite logs to adhering to a strict kiln drying
schedule utilizing our company owned and operated kiln facility, to
dimensionalizing our mesquite lumber, to manufacturing our flooring planks.
All our flooring orders are custom milled. We select from a large inventory
of mesquite lumber in order to expedite the delivery of our orders. In most
cases, we can deliver within a few weeks - depending on backlog.
Grade
Select & Better: The rarest of Mesquite! Each plank is hand selected for its
premium grain and rich, clean character. The face excludes loose knots,
natural checks greater than 1/16" wide, bark inclusions and open holes
greater than 1/2" in diameter. The face will contain very tight knots and
minor checks and inclusions.
Rustic: This grade represents a very good millrun. Because we purchase ONLY
premium mesquite logs, our millrun grade is not typical of normal mesquite
milling operations. Our millrun grade displays the natural beauty and
character inherent in mesquite. The face may contain strong character with
loose knots, natural checks, bark inclusions and open holes. Each plank will
be sound and installable.

Widths: 4", 5", 6" and extra wide widths of 7" and 8"
Lengths: Random, with average length of 4 1/2' to 5'. Some planks 7'
and longer
Sapwood
SAFARI Hardwoods removes substantially all sapwood from our mesquite flooring planks. Through our owned and operated kiln
facility, we ensure proper wood temperature to eliminate all wood eating
insects.
Moisture
We kiln dry our mesquite to approximately 8% moisture content (±2%) or as specified by the
client.
